Posted by Josh BryantDakota Plesa reached a goal in September to deadlift 300 lbs. He is fourteen years old and had been lifting some, when he came to me. He had deadlifted 265 lbs. His goal in the bench press was 170 lbs, which would mean a twenty pound increase in two months. This was a pretty hefty jump in two months but Dakota ended up pulling 320 lbs. in training, and we were both thrilled at this! Dakota ended up benching 170 lbs. in training. Dakota competed December 2nd in his first ever powerlifting meet, the MSA Push/Pull Wild Game Feast at Metroflex. Some of the nation’s strongest lifters were competing, which could one to be intimidated, clam up, and not even be able to equal training bests. Not Dakota! Dakota embraced the energy in the air; Dakota hit 180 lbs in the bench press and 350 lbs. in the deadlift. This exceeded his goals, and showed me he can compete. Dakota has worked his butt off. Keep up the hard work, Dakota; the 400 lb. deadlift is yours in March. Great work ethic plus mental toughness equals continued success for young Dakota.
