Brian Jones Lifts Huge

Last November I met Brian Jones at Metroflex Gym; he could squat 450 high with knee wraps, bench press 295 touch and go, and deadlift 585. Brian and I set up a meeting at Starbuck’s to discuss his goals. Brian talked about wanting to deadlift over 700 soon and eventually being the best in the world. Almost a year later, I can tell you Brian Jones is not all talk; he is all business and is a man on a mission. Brian has a realistic vision! He has done three meets - the first one was last February and he deadlifted 700. Next he competed in a deadlift meet in April and hoisted 725. On October 30th of this year, Brian took his lifting to whole new level at the Metroflex-Ft. Worth “Unleash the Beast Meet”. There Brian hit an easy 625 squat (no wraps), 400 bench, and 760 deadlift with room left in the tank. This man has improved at an incredibly rapid rate and is on a mission. Brian is very coachable and has a passion for the iron game. I was there for Brian’s first 600 deadlift, 700 deadlift, and soon look forward to being there for his first 800 and 900 pound lifts. If you are in the area come check out Big Brian lift at the Metroflex Wild Game Feast on December 3rd at Metroflex Gym in Arlington, TX. Expect big things from Brian Jones!

Congrats to Steve Coyne

Steve Coyne has continued his relentless assault on the deadlift. Steve has dropped his bodyweight from 230 lbs. earlier this year to 163 lbs. In June he accomplished his goal of exceeding a triple bodyweight deadlift by hitting 505 at 163. He has continued his relentless assault on the deadlift, on August 28th, at The Crusher Meet at Metroflex Midcities in Bedford, Texas, Steve did his 525@163 very easily and made a close run at 545. Watch for great things from this dedicated young man as the more svelte Mr. Coyne acclimates to his new leverages. Steve has gone from a strong fat guy to a strong shredded guy; keep up the good work, my friend, it is a pleasure to work with you.
